by Alexander DavidsonI'd like to thank the author for a copy of the book and the chance to review it through the GoodReads First Reads program.
Good clean book! Safe for middle school and up. It had a good flow and all the characters had an essential purpose. The characters had flaws and shortcoming that they had to work through and overcome in order to succeed in their mission. A really good storyline with lots of adventure and a new world to explore. It had a definite ending, no cliffhanger! Although, there could easily be more books to follow this one.
The only problem (a minor problem) that I had with the book: The author used the main character’s proper name excessively. One 4-sentence paragraph had “David” in it 4 times; …underneath David’s couch, David still in it, David felt, David tried - His, Him, He, and He would have been a better flow. Excessive proper nouns made it feel choppy and a bit amateurish.
I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in a light-breezy read.
