by Sam BoardmanWell-written book; the inclusion of derivations of formulae and results aids in synthesising knowledge. There're a sufficient amount of examples, and the review sections after each chapter consolidate previously learned material.
My criticism would be that, although the derivations are breviloquent, sometimes an added elucidation of how one step progresses to the other would help (i.e., in the derivation of sum to n terms of a geometric series). In my case, I had to denote which terms cancel when one computes S - Sr, etc, etc, and make overt the factorisation. However, this is linked more so to my mathematical perspicacity (or lack thereof) as opposed to the book.
Therefore, in sum (excuse the pun), the book was excellent; well-written, informative diagrams, and derivations galore. Excellent book overall.
